New Music // Tomas Barfod – Pulsing (feat. Nina K)

14 Jan

Tomas Barfod returns with a new single, Pulsing, from his upcoming Ep release due in February.

Once again teaming up with vocalist Nina Kinert, Tomas’ production is at the same time crystalline, menacing, and yet somehow playful, making Pulsing an engaging follow up to his solo debut, The Salton Sea.

Can’t wait to see what else he has in store.

New Music // Broken Bells – After The Disco

14 Jan

Broken Bells is the collaborative project between producer Danger Mouse and James Mercer of The Shins.

An eclectic mix of indie rock and electropop, Broken Bells sound has been pretty mellow for the most part, but on their latest single, After The Disco, from their upcoming album of the same name, they’ve built an infectious groove that finds Mercers vocals finding a playful dance partner in a slinky bassline no doubt provided by Danger Mouse. It’s a welcome new colour added to their palette.

New Music // Forest Swords – Thor’s Stone

7 Jan

I’ve been remiss and missed quite a few excellent tracks so I’ve got some catching up to do.

I’d like to start with this haunting track, Thor’s Stone, by the producer known as Forest Swords. Sounding both ancient and futuristic at the same time, this track is really unlike anything I’ve ever heard before, and marks a very unique and interesting development in electronic music production.
